Looking for places to get married outdoors in Montreal? Any luck? Admittedly, outdoor wedding venues are hard to come by in this city. Due to our unpredictable weather most couples prefer to err on the side of caution and host their big day indoors. However, it’s hard to deny how beautiful weddings under the sun can be which makes some people take a leap of faith and move their party outside. Here are a few hidden gems in and around the city that I absolutely love.

1- The Ritz Carlton Montreal

The Ritz can host an intimate and elegant wedding in their garden that can fit up to 70 people. The outdoor area is stunning which means you don’t have to do much when it comes to decor. Between the manicured grounds and the delicious menu their outdoor venue is practically a turn key option for your wedding. All you have to do is show up!

2- The Mount Stephen Hotel

I love this venue because no one knows that they have a magnificent courtyard on the second floor nestled in between tall downtown buildings. When I laid my eyes on it, I contacted one of my clients who was still searching for a venue and we booked it right away. Their wedding will be spectacular! The outdoor space is surrounded by grey stone, the floors have a grey slate finish to them. The courtyard can accommodate 100 people for dinner. Dancing can take place inside afterwards.

3- Pavillon de la Jamaïque

Here is another under-utilized outdoor space. Pavillon de la Jamaïque is a venue that is located on Parc Jean Drapeau (a little island off of Montreal). It has a great indoor space but nothing surpasses their wonderful outdoor area. You can host a ceremony and/or a reception in their garden. You can set up a party tent and have the wedding of your dreams! The great part is that you have access to a full catering kitchen and a complete bathroom. All the necessities are available to you and you just need to take care of all the fun stuff like the decor.

4- The Forest and Stream Club

This private club is a beautiful English Tutor style home that has been converted into a reception venue. You can have any type of gathering including a wedding at the Forest Stream. The house lis wonderful, but the main attraction is the backyard that overlooks the St-Lawrence river. It is spacious enough to host a wedding of 150 guests or more. The views are breathtaking. In the summer months, you can watch boats sail by as you enjoy your dinner; you would think that you are in a posh resort. It truly is Montreal’s best kept secret just minutes outside the city that feels like another world.

5- Le Richmond

This Italian restaurant is a wild venue for your wedding! It has so much flair, you know you’ll have an amazing party. The restaurant can host 150 guests comfortably. 60 of them can be on their outdoor terrace that has a retractable roof top. So, if you are having a smaller wedding, you can host everything outside with a peace of mind in case of rain. On the other hand, if your wedding is going to be a big bash, you can still have that outdoor feeling as the entire wall opens up to the terrasse, so guests can walk freely in and out. Overall, it is a great venue that is conducive to an exciting party.

6- Jardin Royalmount

This brand new outdoor venue is well worth your consideration. You can host your wedding under the stars and if it rains, the wedding can be moved into their pavilion with walls that open out to the elements. It is beautifully designed but still gives you the opportunity to put on your spin on things. Everything is provided: furniture, tabletop, catering, and bar. There is not much to do at this location; they make wedding planning easy.

7- Ristorante Beatrice

Beatrice is a Montreal institution. It’s timeless, refined and romantic. It’s not quite an outdoor terrace; it’s more like a four season solarium with a retractable roof top that completely opens. You’ll have your wedding with the stars as your ceiling and the city lights as your backdrop. It should thus come as no surprise that Beatrice has hosted some of Montreal’s most beautiful weddings for the past two decades. There is no other place like it.

8- Navark

If you want to escape without going too far, Navark is the place. It’s a tiny island that you can rent to host your wedding with 250 of your family and friends. They have a boat that takes you to the island. They already provide you with a tent and bar, you can you use their catering services or bring your own. It’s not far from downtown Montreal making it easily accessible for anyone. It’s a cute little island to host your event and, honestly, I think it’s freaking cool to have a party on your own private island… even if it’s yours only for one day.

9- The Four Seasons Montreal

The Four Seasons has an awesome terrace that overlooks the city and the landmark mural of Leonard Cohen. The terrace can host 80 people for a sit-down dinner, but if you want more room, you can use the ballroom that is attached to the outdoor space. You can then have the cocktail outside, and dinner and dancing indoors. You’ll have exclusive use of the terrace, so people can come in and out as they please. Moreover, if it gets cold outside, you can close the glass doors and have floor-to-ceiling views of the city. This ballroom has soaring ceilings; it takes grandiose to a whole new level.

10- Jatoba Restaurant

Here is another space that isn’t quite an outdoor one. It’s so beautiful that it’s worth mentioning even if it’s debatable whether or not it should make this list. The four season solarium at Jatoba restaurant is nothing like anything else in the city. I can only describe it as an industrial solarium and, quite frankly, I never knew they existed until I went to Jatoba. Having a ceremony, cocktail or dinner in the space is spectacular. Moreover, it has a really elegant yet understated vibe. The menu is Japanese which is unique for a wedding. If you are looking for an original spin to your wedding, Jatoba may be the place.

In case you are wondering what location this photograph was taken, it is Grumman 78. Unfortunately, this iconic place has closed due to the pandemic. It was a wonderful venue for outdoor weddings in the city. It was unique, warm, and inviting. It’s definitely not a location for a traditional wedding but the space permitted you to make it into anything you want. The food was exceptional and the atmosphere can’t be replicated anywhere else. We hope it makes a comeback.

I hope this was helpful!

Enjoy
